Member-groups and permissions Options

Some of you may have noticed that you're seeing a slightly different version of the board.

We've been checking the Groups and permissions, corrected a few things that were wrongly masked and also made a few changes.

The Member-groups are now

Freshman - up to 10 posts
Sophomore - 11 -100 posts
Junior - 101-500 posts
Senior - 500+ posts
Graduate - 2000+ posts

The Freshman Group can now edit their own posts, start new Topics and also use the PM system. They can see the whole board except for the Media section.

The Sophomore Group is unchanged and can see the whole board, but we found some members were in the wrong Group. This Group has access to the Media and also to the calleauni YouTube channel.

We've reduced the threshold for Senior status, which was made when the board was much bigger and also for Graduate status.




If you have any queries about it, just ask. We had to change some members manually because the automatic system didn't work for the changes.

I've tried to send a Pm a couple of times to new people - but it didn't work!

Because of the work involved in having so many different member-groups, we've been reducing and merging them

Currently for ordinary members we have

Guests - who can see all the Anthony sections plus Help but none of the general 'chat' or Media

Freshman - up to 19 posts - who can see all but the Media
Junior - 20+ - see everything
Senior - 500-1000 - see everything
Graduate - 1000+ - one distinguished member She sees everything too


Registration is still strictly on Admin approval. You only have to look at the member-number for Heather and our actual member numbers to see why!

For any 'old' members who come back to post we'll gradually be adding the posts made on the last temp board to your count here.

Actually you're so extra special you can even do that part. You can be whatever you want

I forgot to say above that there are restrictions on what Freshman group can do, because of the spammer situation. No Pms and also no changing of profile info.

While a lot of it is sales links etc, some of it has been absolutely disgusting. You should see the list of words in the email filter

If you're an 'old' member who happens to be very low on posts, then tell us here as we can change conditions for individuals. I was going to say 'PM us' but you can't PM us to ask if you can be allowed to PM.

Yiou reminded me of years ago, when not long after joining, I became a Moderator on a really big board to give me access to a Forum where I was writing. The Moderators had a long discussion about nasty PMs and I had no idea what they were talking about.

Some spammers use the PM system, which is why they're restricted until we know who they are.
