Before Anthony first did whole concerts, I wondered how he would handle the chat etc in between, as I hadn't watched Idol to 'get to know' him in any way.
But he's shown so many times how witty he can be and the interaction with audience-members can be lots of fun. This isn't actually something he himself said. Early on when a girl was touching him or trying to touch him he asked her what her mother would say. She replied that her mother told her to. Another lovely one was when someone asked him to marry her. He said 'I can't marry you - I don't know you. I can't even see you!' *This reminds me of something else. I was talking to someone at a theatre about the need for security. She said 'Oh men, women, children - they all want to touch him.' -------------------- "This man understands music in a very, very deep way"...John Foreman.

Thanks very much Eryl
*This reminds me of something else. I was talking to someone at a theatre about the need for security. She said 'Oh men, women, children - they all want to touch him.' Isn't that the truth. I remember when he walked into the Italian Festival he looked just like an angel in his white suit and he had bodyguards walking with him and people were saying he would really need them because everyone wanted to touch him. I was sitting next to a couple who had seen Wicked many times in London and other places and the lady said to me that Anthony was the best Boq she had seen and that he was so cute and adorable that you just wanted to give him a big hug and pinch his cheeks. She laughed and said " At my age " I thought I'm even older than you and I felt the same way. |

I just thought of another one.
Anthony was singing at The Opera House in Songs from the Movies. He was singing with Kate Cebrano " Come What May " they were laughing and flirting with each other and Anthony said to Kate " You're old enough to be my mother. " Kate and everyone laughed. |

He loves that line and uses it so often - no tact at all! He knows his fans go from 8 or below to 80 or above.
When he was walking away at HUnter Valley, one of the Security men said to another 'just follow him to make sure no sheila jumps him'. -------------------- "This man understands music in a very, very deep way"...John Foreman.

Some of the things he comes out with!
The line that always makes me chuckle is his reply to Kate flirtingly telling him there were so many things she could teach him..."I don't want to learn them though!" You can see the conductor react with a laugh. -------------------- ![]() |

He;s not just funny, he's very quick witted too.
At one of his concerts a girl sang out "you're sexy Anthony" and he replied with "So are you...Everyone is sexy in the dark!" |

I can't remember the names so have just put in what I think they were. At his last full concert, someone yelled out 'Bianca loves you!' and he said something like 'thanks'. Someone else must have said 'so does Isabella!' He said 'oh and Isabella too? Well take a number, I say.' -------------------- "This man understands music in a very, very deep way"...John Foreman.

I agree with you Hellyn Anthony is very quick witted as well as funny When we went to the Whitney Houston concert people kept comming in ( I don't know how they could come in late for Anthony ) and Anthony told them to make themselves comfortable and asked them " If he could get them a drink or something to eat " before they sat down. Then he told them they had already missed ( I forget the number I think it was three songs. ) |

Didn't he also say to other late-comers 'Can I get you anything? Like a watch.'

He got a lot of laughs at the Whitney concert with his little one liners. I remember in the Dec 08 concert, when he was about to sing Hurt So Bad and he was trying to tell the audience what parts we had to sing and he got a bit jumbled and said; "I'm so bad at explaining I'm a wog, I get jumbled up,sometimes my head thinks quicker than my mouth can move". -------------------- ![]() |

When we joined in in Horses he told the other side that they were 'very pitchy down the front there'. His concerts are so much fun. Another one soon, please - well more than one! -------------------- "This man understands music in a very, very deep way"...John Foreman.

What was it that he said in reply to Kate at the Songs from the movies concert, when she said: "Are we going to swap partners?"
He said: ".............. (I never quite caught the words) He then stepped forward and Todd took his hand and they moved off together, laughing madly. And they sang Love is in the air. |

I don't remember either Heather sorry. Maybe someone else will remember. I know they were so great together and had the audience laughing.

I was talking to my grandson Trent yesterday about funny comments that Anthony makes at concerts and he reminded me that when we went to Anthony's concert ( with Jon Stevens ) in the Hunter Valley this lady came up the front of the stage and said to Anthony " You're so gorgeous can we go out " Anthony replied " We could but your're old enough to be my mother." the crowd was laughing.
I think he must use that line often when older women flirt with him. I remember Anthony saying that older women just like to pinch his cheeks. |

He must know being older is no barrier. At one concert a woman made a (successful) grab for his belt and he used the line then too. Early on he asked a girl who tried to touch him (can't remember if she succeeded) what her mother would think. She said 'my mother told me to'. -------------------- "This man understands music in a very, very deep way"...John Foreman.

Personally I'm just happy to just look Thanks Eryl - but Anthony's only a couple of years older than my eldest grandson. |
